Here is some information about GHIMA...
Georgia Health Information Management Association (GHIMA) is a non-profit organization whose membership consists of health information management professionals employed in hospitals and other healthcare settings throughout the state. GHIMA members possess training in the principals of health information management and are registered and/or certified by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). GHIMA is a state component association (CSA) of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). AHIMA is the professional organization representing over 53,000 specialty-educated health information management professionals who work in the healthcare field. GHIMAs 1,200 plus professionals are employed in a variety of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, physicians offices, nursing homes, mental health facilities, health maintenance organizations, insurance companies, health information system vendors, and healthcare consulting firms. GHIMA members are the experts in securing, analyzing and integrating the information that steers the healthcare industry. In addition, there are five
regional associations.
These associations provide members with local access and representation
and serve as an important component for communicating issues and
keeping members informed of local affairs that affect health information
management.
